Dr Muhammad Adnan is a Senior Lecturer in Project Management in the Department of Engineering within the Faculty of Architecture, Built Environment, Computing and Engineering (ABCE) at Birmingham City University. He also serves as Course Director/Lead for the MSc International Project Management and MSc International Logistics and Supply Chain Management distance-learning programmes, and as Academic Mentor for the Formula Student Society.

He brings more than 15 years of combined experience across higher education and industry. His academic and professional background includes teaching, academic leadership, programme and curriculum development, strategic management, project and programme planning and control, operations, and organisational development. Prior to joining Birmingham City University, he held academic leadership roles, including Associate Professor and Head of Department, within international higher education settings.

Muhammad holds a PhD in Business Administration, an MSc in Project Management, an MBA, an LLB, and a BS in Telecommunication Systems. His professional qualifications include Project Management Professional (PMP庐), PRINCE2 Agile庐 Practitioner, the Google Project Management Professional Certificate, and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems Lead Auditor training.

His academic work spans teaching, research, supervision, student development, programme leadership, and external academic engagement. He has published many articles in prestigious, high-ranked journals and presented numerous papers at international conferences.听

Muhammad has supervised and co-supervised undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, and doctoral research and has contributed to external examination at postgraduate and doctoral levels. His research interests are interdisciplinary and include project management, human resource development, strategic leadership, sustainability, digital transformation, Industry 4.0 & 5.0, global supply chains, digital transformation, and international marketing.

His broader academic interests focus on connecting research, professional practice, and student learning, with particular emphasis on employability, inclusive education, applied project management, responsible innovation, and contemporary organisational challenges.
