Shuyin Feng
Shuyin Feng is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering in the Department of Built Environment at Birmingham City University. She received her PhD and MSc by Research in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol, UK, in 2022 and 2017, respectively.
Her research focuses on geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics and sustainable construction materials, with particular interests in the hydraulic behaviour and characterisation of soils and pavement construction materials, laboratory-based geotechnical testing, soil data analysis and modelling, and the effects of environmental conditions on soil behaviour. Her work also explores sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure, including the development and application of sustainable construction materials.
Shuyin has published research in peer-reviewed international journals, including Géotechnique, Transportation Geotechnics, Cold Regions Science and Technology and has presented her work at international conferences. She has experience collaborating with academic and industry partners on experimental research, laboratory testing, data analysis and applied engineering research. She is particularly interested in knowledge transfer, industry collaboration and applied research addressing practical challenges in sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
She is an Associate Editor for ICE Geotechnical Engineering. She is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (GMICE), the British Geotechnical Association, and the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
