Zahra Shaygan
Dr Zahra Shaygan is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Management at Birmingham City University Business School and Programme Director for the MA International Human Resource Management. She was also a member of the MSc Management Programme Leadership Team and supervises PhD, MRes, MBA and MSc students. Zahra holds a PhD in Business from Birmingham City University and is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA). Her teaching focuses on postgraduate education in Organisational Behaviour, Cross-Cultural Management and Research Methods. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, assessment design, quality assurance and programme leadership, supporting more than a thousand postgraduate students each year.
Before joining academia full-time, Zahra worked in industry as an HR Manager, HR Consultant and EFQM Project Manager, bringing valuable practical experience into her teaching and research. Her research interests include human resource management, organisational behaviour, cross-cultural management, recruitment and selection, personality assessment, and the application of AI within HR and organisational contexts. She has presented her work at international conferences, received the Best Paper Award at the University of London in 2024, served as a Session Chair for the British Academy of Management, and has been nominated multiple times for Birmingham City University's Inspirational Teacher and Personal Tutor awards.
