We're the best university for providing meaningful work experience in the West Midlands (RateMyPlacement, 2025). Our students have enjoyed placements with companies like the BBC, Cisco, IBM, NHS, Microsoft, Dolby, Selfridges, ASOS and more.

Most of our courses can be studied on a part-time basis. Part-time courses are studied over a longer period of time than their full-time equivalents, but you spend fewer hours per week in a classroom, meaning you don't have to put your life on hold to study with us.

Birmingham City University offers a range of short courses aimed at both businesses who want to upskill their workforce and individuals wishing to augment their CVs. Spanning a range of subjects, these courses are non-credit bearing programmes which will help participants to develop skills and knowledge, gaining professional development in their chosen field.
