Dr Mohamed Barre is a Lecturer in Construction and Architectural Technology and the Course Director of the Building Surveying programme at Birmingham City University. He has more than 15 years of experience in engineering, technical management, and project delivery, complementing his commitment to teaching, research, and academic leadership.
His research focuses on improving indoor air quality (IAQ) and promoting healthier housing through a whole-systems approach that examines how decisions throughout the home development process influence indoor environmental quality in new UK homes. Mohamed completed his PhD at Birmingham City University, and his research explores how decisions in planning, design, construction, commissioning, and occupation impact IAQ and occupant health. Â
Alongside his research, Dr Mohamed teaches across undergraduate programmes in Building Surveying, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, and Quantity Surveying. His teaching focuses on construction technology, building surveying, sustainability, digital construction, research methods, and professional practice. As Course Director, he leads programme enhancement, curriculum development, student engagement, and quality improvement to enhance the student experience and graduate outcomes. Â
