The RBC-India Ensemble joins hands with Arts—one of the UK’s most prestigious organisations dedicated to promoting South Asian arts.
Milan 2026 celebrates a vibrant collaboration between the student ensemble and musicians from the Asian community in and around Birmingham. Together, they will create a rich musical experience that reflects the city’s remarkable cultural diversity and artistic spirit.
Support comes from Rohan Roy, a progressive violinist born in Kolkata, India specialising in Indian Fusion music. Rohan has contributed as a soloist in about fifty Indian films, at least a hundred jingles, had over a hundred guest appearances on Indian television and performed in concerts nationally as well as internationally.
Callout for South Asian Musicians
The India Ensemble at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is seeking skilled instrumentalists and vocalists who perform South Asian heritage instruments to join a special performance on Sunday 21 June 2026.
We are looking for artists with experience in traditional South Asian musical forms, who are interested in collaborating within a dynamic ensemble setting. This is an exciting opportunity to perform alongside Conservatoire musicians and contribute to a vibrant intercultural programme.
Who we’re looking for:
• Instrumentalist and Vocalist playing South Asian heritage instruments (e.g. sitar, tabla, sarod, bansuri, veena, etc.)
• Performers with strong ensemble skills and openness to collaboration
• Artists based in or able to travel to Birmingham
Please note that applicants must be aged 18 or over. This opportunity is unpaid and is designed as a space for participants to connect, collaborate, and engage in a creative and musical environment.
While there is no financial compensation, participants will have the valuable opportunity to work alongside professional musicians from the Conservatoire community. This experience can foster meaningful connections and may lead to future collaborations, independent projects, and even the formation of new musical groups or bands beyond this initiative.
