Alumna Penelope Appleyard has commissioned a musical setting of Jane Austen鈥檚 poem, Ode to Pity, to celebrate her 250th anniversary.

Head of Music Technology Simon Hall co-runs one of the longest running cross-faculty degrees in the University鈥檚 history 鈥� BSc Music Technology, which is run in collaboration with the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE). Simon enjoys the contrasting cultures of the Conservatoire and CEBE and has great colleagues to overcome any hurdles.

Head of Piano at Birmingham Royal Ballet and RBC alumna Jeanette Chuin-Chieh Wong was presented with Honorary Fellowship of RBC, in recognition of her work in enhancing the Conservatoire鈥檚 reputation.

The Jazz Research Cluster recently ran a symposium, Jazz Among the Discourses - 30 Years On. The event was designed to mark the 30-year anniversary of two influential publications edited by Professor Emeritus Krin Gabbard from Columbia University (pictured). These collections are titled Jazz Among the Discourses and Representing Jazz .

BMus Jazz pianist Tom Ward performed with famous jazz pianist and singer Jamie Cullum recently at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Junior RBC Wind Orchestra made a triumphant return to the National Concert Band Festival this month at Warwick Hall, achieving the highest award from the panel of expert adjudicators.
