Phixos, a West Midlands based company and part of the Blakebrook Group, specialise in providing high quality software and firmware engineering solutions. The business has over 30 years of experience in delivering these services to OEMs across the globe.
What was the client's business challenge?
Many businesses face challenges when it comes to recruitment. For Phixos, one challenge they have noticed is female representation in this industry.
Due to the type of business they are, the main subjects that Phixos recruit from are STEM-based subjects 鈥� Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science, etc.

In addition to the relevant degree, Phixos are looking for a unique blend of skillset in the graduates we hire. We search for individuals who love to solve problems, those who pay attention to detail, and can collaborate well and communicate clearly with their colleagues yet they can also work independently and use their own initiative.
How did your service address the client's needs?
The business actively attends career fairs across the midlands held by local universities to recruit talent. One of the main reasons they attend in person, is down to their belief on being a human centric company. Students can meet the team face to face and learn about what Phixos are looking for from their future hires. Students can also gain insight into what is involved throughout the application process, and equally, if successful, what they can expect in terms of career development.
Phixos believe by ensuring they lead on this approach, students and graduates are more likely to thrive in the workplace and feel better supported.
When attending careers fairs, Phixos are joined by graduates from previous years who have successfully been through the process; this has proven to be a great way to showcase to students what is like to work there and the various career paths available to them.
One reason for attending the Careers Fairs at 黑料吃瓜网 was the make-up of the courses on offer, which ticked the boxes for Phixos in terms of finding the relevant technical skills that are required.
Reflecting on their recent visit to our Autumn Careers fair in 2024, Rebecca, fed back that 鈥�the students were incredibly enthusiastic and well prepared. They asked the right questions and knew about the business before attending.鈥�
What measurable outcomes did the client experience as a result of your service?
Following on from attending the fair, the team at Phixos were successfully able to recruit an industry placement student, who will be starting with them in September 2025.
Currently, 70% of engineers within Phixos started their careers there as graduates. Which demonstrates not only the high retention rate of staff, but also the various careers paths and opportunities open to both graduates and placement students.
This also shows the positive impact that graduates from across the region are having on businesses.
